Fusion Splicing
Specialising in.... Fibre Optic Splicing, Fusion Splicing and Fibre Optic Cable Installations
About Fusion splicing.
Fusion splicing is a method of joining two optical fibers with the least possible loss of optical power, whereby the cores and claddings of the two fibers are melted together. An electrical arc is used during fusion splicing to melt the glass, effectively making one optical fiber. The fuse area is extremely delicate and so is usually protected with a fusion splice protection sleeve that includes a steel strength member, inner optical fiber tube and outer shrink tube. A clean, high-quality optical fiber cleave is essential to produce a reliable fusion splice. A good fusion splice should neither reflect nor scatter the light passing through the optical fibers and has under 0.1 dB loss. The optical fiber splice must meet the fiber strength and reliability requirements. In nowadays fusion splicing is one of the most popular optical fiber splicing techniques and most widely used permanent accurate methods of optical fiber termination. The purpose of optical fiber termination is to provide an easy way for fiber cross connection and light wave signal distribution. Fusion splicing is widely used in optical fiber installation and repair. Optical fiber fusion splicing is becoming increasingly important as high-power devices, such as a high-power laser, or an optical amplifier, and large-mode-area high-power optical fibers are developed to meet certain demanding industrial requirements and applications
Our fiber optics Installers have an extensive experience in the fiber optic industry and provide optical high-power solutions that significantly improve power handling in high-power optical devices. A fusion splice, performed by our highly qualified and experienced optical professionals, normally yields the lowest light loss and meets signal loss threshold of less than 0.1 dB. We successfully perform fusion fiber splicing for many years, ensuring quality of our optical products and the consistency of reliable service.
